What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback, also known as cognitive rehabilitation or EEG biofeedback, is a ground-breaking technique that challenges the brain to function better. This powerful brain-based technique has been successfully helping clients around the world for more than 40 years. It is a noninvasive process with dramatic results for a multitude of symptoms. The effectiveness of neurofeedback for adults and children with a wide variety of symptoms has been repeatedly concluded in numerous research studies.

How do Neurofeedback sessions work?

Services for neurofeedback begin with an initial intake that takes about 1.5 hours.  During the intake, I meet with you to understand the challenges you (or your child) are experiencing in your daily life and administering a 25- minute computer based assessment.  The computer based assessment is looking at 37 brain measures of auditory and visual processing, memory, auditory and visual processing speed and stamina, auditory and visual comprehension, and fine motor hyperactivity.  This assessment generates a 15 page report that I review with you at the time of the intake.  The information collected from the intake and assessments are then reviewed to determine if neurofeedback could assist you (or your child) with improving identified areas of brain processing weaknesses, much like going to the gym for your brain.  The difference is that once the training is completed (generally 20 hours of 30 minute sessions twice/week), the brain training tends to hold.  Meaning, the changes have been known to have long-lasting results based on longitudinal research studies.

*Neurofeedback sessions must be conducted in person at one of the Morningstar Neurofeedback locations. Online consultations are available for introductory purposes as well as individual therapy sessions.
